There is that one tensed up moment your partner walks over to you, and blunders out the words, ”WE NEED TO TALK”. Logically, your mental calculations should indemnify for the emotional tohubohu that comes with the four words.

Coincidently, it should dawn on others that you have inimitably chattered a different itinerary, when a modification in your routine slaps them. An outpour of messages of concern on my whereabouts, my strives and my status has camped at my doorstep.

When I started participating in cyber space discourses, I usually kept in mind Audre Lorde’s quote

__Your silence will not protect you.

I have begun to realize that you can listen to silence and learn from it. It has quality and an extra dimension. For days now, I have invested heavily in lurking on online fora , messenger chat rooms and social media platforms.

Sitting silently, to watch the world around me and I feel content. I now see, like I was accustomed to, that the young, brash and impatient must always break the silence .For me, silence is holy.

Never miss a good moment to shut up.
Sometimes we need to thrive alone. To ponder in seclusion. We need the sunshine and the wile of the streets  without companions, without conversation, face to face with ourselves, with the only music being the heart of our own company.

For want of something better, we chatter about ourselves and we assume the world cares about it, when it really doesn’t. As a freshly inducted buddha ,I have learnt one important shibboleth___ speak only if it improves upon the silence. It is all about stepping out of thousand years of collective human conditioning. Silence is the most powerful scream.

Max Ehrmann in his globally acclaimed ode, Desiderata, he quipped,

“Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there maybe in silence.”

Victoria Grayson of the TV Drama  ‘Revenge’ affirms that ”

silence is better than bullshit”

’.See, you can’t put a majestic peacock in the same cage as a howler monkey. Allusively, my peacock is silence and the monkey is the deathblow that is indignity.

If you like getting a little heedful and mushy in a while, master by heart Simon and Garkunfel’s Disturbed Lyrics – Sound Of Silence.
